Our logistics operation synchronizes trains, guides and government permits so that you only have to worry about walking and enjoying the landscape.
Day 1: Km 104, Wiñay Wayna and Puerta del Sol

The adventure begins by entering Km 104 of the railway line. After crossing the suspension bridge over the Vilcanota River, we will begin a fascinating walk surrounded by imposing mountains and the dense ecosystem of the cloud forest. The first major milestone is the beautiful archaeological site of Wiñay Wayna, a masterpiece of Inca agricultural engineering.
Later, we will continue the ascent until crossing the iconic Inti Punku (Puerta del Sol). From this stone threshold you will get the first and most magnificent panoramic view of the Machu Picchu citadel at sunset. We will descend by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes for dinner and rest in a comfortable hotel.
Day 2: Sunrise and Exploration in Machu Picchu

On your second day, the reward will be maximum. We will board the bus (Consettur) very early to see the sunrise over Machu Picchu, followed by a detailed guided tour of its most sacred and important sites. You will learn about the history that supports its status as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
After exploring the wonder of the world, you will have free time in the picturesque town of Aguas Calientes, where you can relax in its famous hot springs before taking the scenic train back to Cusco. An unforgettable experience condensed into two days of pure Andean culture.

Trekking Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How much do you walk on the 2-day Short Inca Trail? The walk is done entirely on the first day and covers an approximate distance of 12 to 15 kilometers (about 6 or 7 hours of trekking at a moderate pace), from Km 104 to Machu Picchu, passing by Wiñay Wayna. The second day is exclusively for the guided tour of the citadel.
Is physical preparation necessary for this route? Moderate physical condition is required. Although not as demanding as the 4-day route, the terrain includes steep sections and original stone stairs. We recommend acclimatizing for at least 2 days in Cusco (3,400 meters above sea level) before starting the walk.
How far in advance should I book the 2-day Inca Trail? Capacity is strictly limited by the Peruvian government (250 daily spaces shared between tourists and support staff). It is mandatory to book at least 3 to 4 months in advance, especially if you travel in high season (May to August).
