Full Day: Living Culture, Pachamanca and Laguna Piuray
07:00 AM - Pick up and Welcome:
We start the day with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Upon arriving at the host community, we will be welcomed to the beat of traditional music and chants. We will dress in typical local costumes and enjoy a comforting muña or coca mate accompanied by toasted corn (canchita).
09:30 AM - Walk to Piuray Lagoon and Payment to the Earth:
We will begin a gentle walk to Laguna Piuray, crossing the Huacacancha archaeological center, while our hostesses share local stories and legends. On the shores of the lagoon, we will perform a sacred Offering Ceremony to Pachamama (Mother Earth), using coca leaves, chicha de jora, and seeds, asking for protection, health and prosperity.
12:00 PM - Preparation of the Pachamanca:
We will return to the communal premises to begin the gastronomic experience. The guide and the community members will explain the "Pachamanca" process. Visitors will actively participate in placing the organic ingredients underground. While we wait for the 40 to 50 minutes of cooking, we will take the opportunity to have a cultural exchange with local families.
01:00 PM - Disinterment and Typical Lunch:
We will proceed with the spectacular unearth of Pachamanca and enjoy a traditional lunch with the most authentic flavors of the Andes.
02:00 PM - Andean Textile Demonstration:
We will participate in an interactive workshop where we will be taught the ancestral techniques of shearing, dyeing and weaving. There will be an exhibition where you can purchase beautiful pieces of textile art directly from their creators.
04:00 PM - Return to Cusco:
We will say goodbye to the community and board our private transportation, arriving at your hotel in the city of Cusco at 4:00 p.m. approximately.
