Peru 12-Day Package: The Great Southern Circuit & Machu Picchu

Peru Package 12 days
Designing a route that encompasses the coast, the desert, the deep southern Andes and the peak of the Incas requires technical and operational precision. In Llamitas Travel, we have structured the definitive 12-day Peru package: the Great Southern Circuit. This expedition consolidates the country’s most fascinating ecosystems and cultures in a single fluid tour, eliminating downtime and guaranteeing perfect adaptation to the altitude.
12 Day Itinerary: The Ultimate Expedition
The circuit is designed with a curve of strategic acclimatization, gradually ascending from sea level to the roof of the Andes.
Days 1 to 3: Desert, Oasis and Geoglyphs

The journey begins in Lima. We quickly headed south to embark towards the Ballestas Islands and feel the adrenaline in the oasis of Huacachina. The third day is reserved for one of the greatest enigmas of humanity: the flight over the mysterious Nazca Lines, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and then continue our land journey towards the south.
Days 4 and 5: Arequipa and the Colca Abyss

We arrive at Arequipa (2,335 m a.s.l.), the splendid “White City” built in volcanic ashlar. After admiring its imposing colonial architecture, we descend (and ascend topographically) towards the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest on the planet. At the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, we will witness the majestic flight of the largest flying bird in the world, the Andean Condor, taking advantage of the morning thermal currents.
Days 6 and 7: The Altiplano and Titicaca
Our route advances towards Puno. We will navigate the icy waters of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world (3,812 m a.s.l.). We will get to know closely the engineering of reeds in the Floating Islands of the Uros and the ancestral textile wealth of the island of Taquile, connecting deeply with the living culture of the highlands.
Days 8 to 12: The Inca Apogee in Cusco

The final section takes place in the heart of the Inca Empire. From Puno, we will reach Cusco through the iconic Ruta del Sol. We will explore the Sacred Valley, the imposing citadel of Machu Picchu and, to culminate with the maximum physical challenge of the trip, the spectacular Mountain of Seven Colors (Vinicunca) at more than 5,000 meters of altitude.
