This 8-day itinerary combines two of Peru’s greatest wonders in one journey. It starts in Lima with a special excursion: an overnight departure for the spectacular Nazca Lines overflight — mysterious figures etched in the desert over 2,000 years ago — returning to Lima the same day.

From Lima we fly to Cusco for the City Tour, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the legendary Machu Picchu citadel, the spectacular Rainbow Mountain, and the stunning Humantay Lake. The complete classic Peru experience in one unforgettable journey.

Cusco

The imperial city of Cusco is located in southeastern Peru, in the Andes Mountains. It sits at over 3,300 meters (10,800 feet) above sea level and was the former capital of the Inca Empire. Today, it is one of the most important tourist destinations in South America.

Ica is located on the southern coast of Peru, about 4–5 hours from Lima, surrounded by desert landscapes and close to the Pacific Ocean.

Nazca Lines Overflight – Day Trip from Lima

Pick-up 1:00 a.m. Bus to Ica–Nazca. Breakfast. Panoramic overflight (~30 min): The Monkey, Hummingbird, Spider, Condor, Astronaut, and more. Free lunch. Return bus to Lima (departs 5:00 p.m. – arrives ~10:00 p.m.). Overnight Lima.

Flight Lima–Cusco + City Tour

Airport transfer. Flight to Cusco. Hotel check-in. Afternoon City Tour (pick-up 12:45 p.m.): Qorikancha, Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puka Pukara, Tambomachay. End ~6:30 p.m. Overnight Cusco.

Rainbow Mountain Full Day

Pick-up 3:50–4:20 a.m. Buffet breakfast Cusipata. Hike to Rainbow Mountain (16,522 ft / 5,036 m). Free time at the summit. Buffet lunch Cusipata. Return Cusco ~5:00–5:30 p.m.

Humantay Lake Full Day

Pick-up 4:30 a.m. Buffet breakfast Mollepata. Hike to Humantay Lake (13,780 ft / 4,200 m): 1.5–2 hrs ascent. Turquoise waters beneath the Salkantay glacier. Buffet lunch Mollepata. Return Cusco ~6:00–6:30 p.m.

Nazca is 280 miles / 450 km from Lima (about 6 hours by bus). The overnight departure allows arrival in time for the morning overflight — the best visibility conditions — and return to Lima the same day. We strongly recommend resting well on day 1 and bringing a travel pillow.

The small plane makes turns so all passengers see the figures, which can cause motion sickness in some people. Eat a light breakfast before the flight and bring anti-nausea medication if you’re sensitive.

Day 3 includes the Cusco City Tour in the afternoon — active enough to stay engaged but without high-altitude exertion. Machu Picchu (7,972 ft) on day 4 acts as a natural stepping stone before the higher hikes on days 6 and 7.
