About the Tour

Navigate the highest navigable lake in the world and discover the cultural magic of its islands.

Cusco, Puno, Lake Titicaca, Uros Floating Islands, Taquile Island

Explore the natural and cultural wonder of the high Andean plateau with our Full Day Tour to Uros and Taquile Islands. This experience is designed to make the most of your time, departing by bus from Cusco the night before so you can wake up facing the immensity of Lake Titicaca. Our first stop will be at the amazing Uros Floating Islands, built entirely of totora reeds, where local families will show us their ancient way of life on the water.

The navigation will continue to the spectacular Taquile Island, world-famous for the unmatched quality of its textiles and declared a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Here we will hike to its main square, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the lake, and watch typical local dances. In the late afternoon, we will return to the city of Puno so you can enjoy some free time before starting your bus trip back to Cusco.

Frequently Asked Questions

We answer your doubts

Upon arriving in Taquile, our guide will take you to a typical communal restaurant where you can purchase a delicious local lunch (usually quinoa soup and fresh lake trout) for an average price of 30 to 40 soles.

The overnight journey takes about 7 to 8 hours. We use interprovincial tourist buses with reclining seats so you can rest through the night and wake up in Puno ready for the tour.

The walk from the Taquile port to its main square takes about 40 minutes uphill. Although the path is paved, the altitude (almost 4,000 m) makes it feel a bit heavy. We hike at a slow pace.

Yes, Lake Titicaca is at over 3,800 meters. If you come from Cusco, your body will already be partially acclimatized, but we recommend drinking coca tea in Puno before boarding the boat.

Tips for your trip to Puno

🧥
Warm clothing
Bring a thick jacket or windbreaker. The weather in Puno and the wind during the lake navigation are usually very cold.
💰
Cash in Soles
Bring cash to pay for your breakfast, lunch in Taquile, and if you wish to buy the beautiful crafts from the islands.
☀️
Sun protection
The sun’s reflection on the lake burns the skin quickly. Use sunscreen, a hat, and dark sunglasses.
💊
Personal medication
If you are prone to seasickness, consider bringing a pill to prevent nausea during the boat ride.
