This 3-day itinerary in Cusco is designed to let you discover the most impressive destinations of the Peruvian Andes in a short amount of time. The journey begins with a City Tour of the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, visiting iconic landmarks such as Qorikancha, the imposing archaeological complex of Sacsayhuaman, and the ceremonial site of Tambomachay. This is an excellent introduction to Inca history and architecture while you start your acclimatization process.

The experience continues with a visit to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World, where you will explore its temples and terraces accompanied by a specialized guide. Finally, the adventure culminates with an excursion to the spectacular Vinicunca, known as Rainbow Mountain. Located at over 16,400 feet, it will allow you to enjoy unique Andean landscapes before your final transfer to the airport.

Itinerary – Machu Picchu & Rainbow Mountain 3 Days

Day 1
Arrival in Cusco + City Tour
Airport reception in Cusco and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, we will start the City Tour visiting Qorikancha, Sacsayhuaman, and Tambomachay, ending the tour in the city center.
⏱ Pick-up: 12:45 p.m. – End: approx. 06:00 p.m.

Machu Picchu Full Day
Early transfer to the station for the train ride to Aguas Calientes. Bus ascent to Machu Picchu and a 2-hour guided tour of the citadel. In the afternoon, return by train and transfer to your hotel in Cusco.
⏱ Pick-up: 05:00 a.m. – Return train: 4:22 p.m. or 5:25 p.m.

Day 3
Rainbow Mountain & Airport Transfer
Early morning departure to Cusipata for breakfast. A 1.5-hour hike to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). Descent, buffet lunch, and return to Cusco for your final transfer to the airport.
⏱ Pick-up: 04:00 a.m. – Return to Cusco: approx. 05:00 p.m.

The guided tour inside the sanctuary lasts approximately 2 hours. Then, depending on your circuit, you will have time to take photos.

The hike is of moderate to demanding difficulty due to the altitude. It takes about 1.5 hours each way. If you wish, you can rent a horse along the way directly from the locals.

Tours run year-round, even in moderate rain. During the rainy season (December to March), it is essential to bring a good waterproof poncho.
