The 4-day itinerary combining Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Humantay Lake is the perfect balance between cultural heritage and nature tourism. The experience begins in the ancient capital of the Inca Empire with a comprehensive City Tour, where you can explore the perfect architecture of the Qorikancha and the imposing megalithic fortress of Sacsayhuaman, connecting instantly with Andean history.

On the following days, the journey will lead you to discover two of South America’s most important jewels. First, you will marvel at the citadel of Machu Picchu, wandering through its temples and terraces nestled in the mountains. Itinerary – Machu Picchu & Humantay Lake 4 Days

Day 1
Arrival in Cusco & City Tour
Airport reception and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, we will start the City Tour visiting the most emblematic sites of the city: Qorikancha, Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay.
⏱ Pick-up: 12:45 p.m. – End: approx. 6:30 p.m.

Machu Picchu Full Day
Early transfer to Ollantaytambo station to board the train to Aguas Calientes. Bus ascent to Machu Picchu and a 2-hour guided tour of the Inca citadel. In the afternoon, return by train to Cusco.
⏱ Full day tour. Arrival in Cusco: approx. 08:30 p.m.

Day 3
Humantay Lake Trekking
Early morning pick-up and drive to Mollepata for breakfast. A 1.5 to 2-hour uphill hike to the spectacular Humantay Lake. Descent, buffet lunch, and return to Cusco.
⏱ Pick-up: 04:30 a.m. – Return to Cusco: approx. 06:00 p.m.

Airport Transfer
Breakfast at the hotel. At the coordinated time, our private transport will transfer you from your hotel to the Cusco airport for your flight back home.

Yes, the itinerary is designed so that you spend the first two days (City Tour and Machu Picchu) progressively acclimatizing to the altitude before climbing to the 13,780 ft lake.

The hike is a constant and steep ascent. It takes between 1.5 to 2 hours. If you feel tired, you can rent a horse at the start of the route (additional cost negotiated with the locals).

Yes, provided the package reservation is made well in advance, we guarantee your train tickets and entrance to the citadel.

Tours operate normally with moderate rain. We recommend always bringing a waterproof poncho. Routes are only canceled or rescheduled in case of extreme weather that poses a safety risk.

No, trains to Machu Picchu only allow hand luggage (small backpacks). Your main luggage must stay in your hotel’s storage room in Cusco.
